Regional Hospital of Scranton Announces Employee and Managers of the Year

Commonwealth Health Regional Hospital of Scranton recently announced its employee of the year, manager and non-clinical managers of 2014. The employee of the year was selected based on Exceptional Care nominations received throughout the year. The clinical and non-clinical managers of the year were selected by Senior Staff from nominations made by employees.

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR: Kelley Cottrell, Surgery Scheduler of Operating Room
Cottrell has been a member of the staff since 1997 and she always goes above and beyond when it comes to getting surgeries schedule. Many physicians and their office staff have stated that one reason they choose Regional Hospital is the ease that Kelley makes scheduling their surgery there. She has a great relationship with all of her co-workers and is always willing to do whatever needs to be done, whether it be taking specimens to the lab, helping staff with computer issues or calling for service on equipment. In addition, Kelley helps with the hospital’s Christmas angel program.
NON-CLINCIAL MANAGER OF THE YEAR: Nicole Miller, Human Resources Manager
An employee since 2004, Miller easily handles complicated issues. The hospital leadership and staff respect and trust her guidance and judgement with the most difficult problems. She has worked through several major HR department changes throughout the year. She was also a co-leader with a major system change to the Ultipro HRIS and ESC systems and processes, as well as leading a very successful United Way campaign. Nicole is also an active member of the American Cancer Society, Environment of Care Team and Safety Committee.
CLINICAL MANAGER OF THE YEAR: Mark Mileski, Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
Mileski began his career at Regional in 1981. He leads the Cath Lab, the Joint Venture Cath Lab and the Electro-physiology labs. In 2015, under Mileski’s leadership, Regional added two programs that are a first for the community – Cryoblation in the EP Lab and the use of the Impella LVAD. The Impella literally changed the patient’s life. He is a key leader on the Regional team that improved relationships with EMS and referring hospitals. Mark rolled out a both a clinical report and a recognition certificate demonstrating the importance of the team, in and out of the hospital in getting great results for patients. Mark was also instrumental in getting our Heart Saver STEMI program off the ground, using the new Commonwealth Health helicopter.
