Vital to Our Community
Community Benefit Report 2023
Around the clock, every day, the impact of Commonwealth Health Network adds up thanks in large measure to the skills and compassion of physicians, nurses and other team members who deliver safe, quality care for patients. Patients received the medical care they needed in 2023 at more than 950 thousand encounters with our hospitals, outpatient clinics and physician offices in Northeastern PA.
We play a vital role in the community through our work to strengthen the medical services available locally. We make charitable contributions to organizations supporting social determinants of health and provide acts of service. This impact is a vital force in the community and helps improve the quality of life for all of our neighbors. Highlights of last year include:
- Patient Encounters: 950 thousand
- Uncompensated Care: $46 million
- Capital Investments: $4 million
- Payroll: $298 million
- Taxes Paid: $24 million
- Overall Community Benefit: $418 million
Helping people get well and live healthier is rewarding work, and we are grateful for the trust every patient places in us. We are also grateful for the support and encouragement provided by our community throughout the past year.
