Commonwealth Health Announces CEO for Moses Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton

Commonwealth Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael L. Brown as the new CEO of Moses Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton.

healthcare leader that can support our continued clinical
and operational growth in Scranton", said Douglas G.
Allen, Chair, Moses Taylor Hospital Board of Trustees
and Dr. Mary Jane K. DiMattio, Chair, Regional Hospital
of Scranton Board of Trustees. "Throughout his career
Michael has achieved impressive results around quality
and growth initiatives. We are confident he will do a
tremendous job leading our hospitals forward".
Prior to joining Commonwealth Health, Michael
worked at Amita Health, the largest hospital system in
Illinois, where he has held hospital executive positions
including COO, CNO, CEO and President since 2005.
Most recently, he has served as Regional President and
CEO of Amita’s Fox River Valley Region, overseeing two
hospitals, two joint venture cancer centers and an
ambulatory surgery center. Both hospitals have been
recognized for safety and quality by Health Grades,
Consumer Reports, U.S. News and World Reports and
with Leapfrog A grades. In addition to collaborating
with physicians for quality and growth, Michael has a
track record of building and leading high-performing
teams and achieving strategic and operational
objectives.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he achieved
the rank of Sergeant as a law enforcement specialist.
Following military service, Michael worked as a professional
firefighter/paramedic before he earned his
bachelor’s degree in nursing with honors and MBA in
organizational leadership/management from Franklin
University in Columbus, Ohio. He also has an associate’s
degree in emergency medical services and fire sciences
from Columbus Technical Institute in Columbus.
