Commonwealth Health Announces Walk-In Mammogram Screenings During the Week of February 24-28
2/11/2025
KINGSTON, PA – Commonwealth Health is committed to removing the barriers many women face in receiving timely breast cancer screenings. In recognition of February as the month of love, the health system is offering walk-in mammogram screenings at the Women’s Imaging Center located in the Thomas P. Saxton Medical Pavilion at 468 Northampton Street, Kingston.
From February 24-28, women aged 40 and older can skip the usual appointment scheduling and doctor’s orders. Instead, they can walk in directly to receive their annual screening mammogram from 1 - 4 p.m.
“Breast cancer impacts one in eight women, and early detection is critical for better outcomes,” said Chris Howe, CEO at Commonwealth Health Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. “We want to make it easier for women to prioritize their health, which is why we’re removing traditional barriers and offering this walk-in service for mammograms.”
Mammograms are an essential preventive care service, and for most women, these screenings may be covered by insurance at no cost. Commonwealth Health accepts most major insurance plans, including Geisinger Health Plan (GHP).
“February is the month of love, and there’s no better way to show love for yourself and your loved ones than by taking the step to get screened,” Howe added.
