Commonwealth Health Hosts Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to Fight Hunger
3/7/2025
Commonwealth Health invites community members to join the health system’s efforts to fight hunger by participating in the second annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive benefiting Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank, Bread Basket of NEPA, and St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen.
Peanut butter is a sought after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life. Yet, it is one of the least donated items. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive kicks off on March 3 and will run through March 25.
Joining Commonwealth Health in this year’s Jars of Love collection drive are community partners Jersey College School of Nursing and The Wright Center.
Last year our employees, medical staff, and volunteers collected over 2,220 jars of peanut butter, and we look forward to surpassing that number this year. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive is a great way to partner with community members to reduce hunger in our area.
“Peanut butter is a crucial, high-protein food that can make a big difference for families in need,” said Jennifer Warabak, executive director at CEO's Weinberg Regional Food Bank. "Last year, through this food drive we were able to distribute 481 jars of peanut butter. This generous donation provided a vital resource to families facing difficult times. By donating peanut butter, you’re helping ensure that our neighbors have access to nutritious, family-friendly food when they need it most. Your support truly makes an impact in our community.”
Peanut butter donations can be dropped off at any of the following locations:
- Moses Taylor Hospital
- Regional Hospital of Scranton
- Wilkes-Barre General Hospital
- Commonwealth Health Physician Network Offices
