Moses Taylor Hospital
A campus of Regional Hospital of Scranton
At Moses Taylor Hospital, we provide quality health care that is patient- and community-focused for obstetrics, neonatal care and senior behavioral health. Each year, Moses Taylor Hospital has welcomed thousands of newborns into the world at their family birthing suites. The hospital offers the area’s only level III NICU which has helped earn them their reputation as Scranton’s first choice for babies.
Family Birthing Suites
The refurbished family birthing suites have private postpartum rooms, private birthing suites and dedicated C-section operating rooms. An OB/GYN physician is on staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The onsite lactation center helps new moms become accustomed to breastfeeding. Lactation consultants are available.
Level III NICU
Moses Taylor Hospital has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) within our family birthing suites – with physicians and staff ready at a moment’s notice. The NICU is designed to enable more control of artificial and natural lighting, as well as significant noise reduction to lower an infant’s stress levels. Private rooms are uniquely designed to suit the needs of premature or ill newborns. Monitoring technology enables staff to continually observe every infant’s condition.
Senior Behavioral Health Services
The senior behavioral health services unit at Moses Taylor Hospital provides short term psychiatric treatment for those aged 55 years and older, a population recognized locally as our fastest growing segment. The unit focuses on helping older adults achieve the highest level of functioning through maintaining or improving cognitive skills, developing social skills and self-esteem, maintaining or improving physical health, and providing other individualized treatment.
Jersey College School of Nursing
Commonwealth Health is serious about growing the next generation of nurses to care for our local community. To train additional caring and skilled nurses, Jersey College and Commonwealth Health have collaborated to establish a School of Nursing on Moses Taylor Hospital’s campus, serving the greater Scranton region.
The Jersey College Hospital-Based Professional Nursing Program at Moses Taylor Hospital is a six-semester program, culminating in an associate degree in nursing, providing its graduates with opportunities to become a registered nurse.
The Scranton program combines the teaching experience of a college and the clinical experience of a hospital.
