TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. (Sept. 8, 2014) – Tyler Memorial Hospital, a part of Commonwealth Health, was presented with a Safety Across the Board Excellence Award by the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania.
The award recognizes participating hospitals for their achievement of exceptional performance and participation in the association’s Pennsylvania Hospital Engagement Network and with the Partnership for Patients program goals of reducing preventable harm and readmissions.
A hospital must meet both the performance and participation criteria in order to be eligible for the award. To qualify for exceptional performance, a hospital is required to meet or exceed target goals on at least two-thirds of the adverse event areas. These include hospital-acquired conditions and readmission focus areas.
Tyler’s exceptional performance was noted in these areas: catheter-associated urinary tract infections; central line-associated bloodstream infections; surgical site infections; pressure ulcer prevention; venous thromboembolism; ventilator-associated events.
This recognition is Tyler’s fourth quality/service/safety award in the last 10 months.
