World Breastfeeding Week celebrated at Moses Taylor
8/11/2015
Moses Taylor Hospital recognized World Breastfeeding Week by featuring a breastfeeding awareness fair on Aug. 7.
The theme of the fair was Breastfeeding at Work Awareness, which focuses on a lactating mother's rights under Pennsylvania legislation. The state law requires a workplace to provide accommodations for a breastfeeding mother so that she may maintain a feeding routine.
A lactation station was on display which allowed visitors to see the simple, yet comfortable, setting that is needed to accommodate a breastfeeding mother.
Vendors, basket raffles and breastfeeding literature were available, as was a play area and face painting for children.
All proceeds from the fair, as well as a Symphony Breast Pump, were donated to the Catherine McAuley Center.
