Surgeon to Provide Free Talk on Hernias

BERWICK, Pa. (May 19, 2016) – Anton Georgiev, D.O., will present “Advanced Treatment Options for Abdominal Hernias,” a free community presentation at 6 p.m. May 26 at the Berwick YMCA, 231 W. Third St., Berwick.

The lecture is part of an ongoing collaboration between Commonwealth Health Berwick Hospital Center and the Berwick YMCA in an effort to promote community wellness.

Dr. Georgiev and his team opened the Hernia Clinic at Berwick Hospital last October. A hernia is formed when pressure forces an organ or tissue through a weak muscle, usually in the abdomen, resulting in a protrusion. Both men and women can develop hernias.

Dr. Georgiev is board-certified in surgery and is a member of the medical staff at Berwick Hospital.
