Regional Hospital Nation's 1st Cardiovascular Center of Excellence

SCRANTON, Pa. (Sept. 19, 2017) – Regional Hospital of Scranton has become the first hospital in the United States to be accredited as a Cardiovascular Center of Excellence by the American Heart Association. The announcement was made today as officials gathered for the grand opening of the hospital’s $15 million Heart & Vascular Institute.

To earn Cardiovascular Center of Excellence accreditation, the Regional cardiovascular team was required to demonstrate excellence in cardiovascular care -- beginning with early patient and community engagement and external support, to providing scientific, evidence-based, guidelines-driven care.
