Community Resources Topic of Stroke Support Group Meeting

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (April 26, 2018) – Commonwealth Health Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Stroke Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. May 23 at the Thomas P. Saxton Medical Pavilion, 468 Northampton St., Kingston. This recently established group was formed to help stroke patients and their caregivers deal with everyday issues.
Amanda Olaviany, licensed social worker, will discuss the community resources available to stroke patients.
Jennifer Perrins, a registered nurse and nursing supervisor at the hospital’s Center for Advance Rehabilitation, serves as facilitator for the monthly meetings.
Each meeting will include a guest speaker, a specific topic and educational session. Light refreshments will be served.
Future meeting dates and topics are: June 20, "In Home Exercises/Home Safety Modifications,"
Michele Long, physical therapist; July 18, "Bathroom Safety/Modifications," Katie O'Hearn, occupational therapist, and Aug. 15, "Medication Review,” Bradley Dudeck, pharmacist.
