WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (Oct. 19, 2016) – Volunteers from five Commonwealth Health hospitals recently conducted Mammothon 2016 and surpassed their goal by scheduling 781 mammograms. Final results show 5,164 calls were made during the four-hour Mammothon on Oct. 11.
A total of 131 volunteers at Berwick Hospital Center, Moses Taylor Hospital, Regional Hospital of Scranton, Tyler Memorial Hospital, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and the Diagnostic Imaging Center called women who were past due for their annual mammograms, offering to schedule these critical screenings or giving a gentle reminder about the importance of yearly mammograms.
This year’s goal was 577 scheduled mammograms which was exceeded by about 135 percent.
In 2015, 638 mammograms were scheduled – or 130 percent of the goal of 489.
