Commonwealth Health Announces Collaboration with Northeast Radiation Oncology Centers to Enhance Cancer Care Services
Commonwealth Health is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Northeast Radiation Oncology Centers (NROC) to support and strengthen radiation oncology services at their Cancer Center located at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Effective July 1, 2026, NROC began providing physician coverage for the radiation oncology program at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, further enhancing access to high-quality, locally available cancer care for patients throughout Luzerne County and the surrounding region.
As part of this collaboration, NROC physicians Dr. Christopher Peters, Dr. Meghan Haggerty, and Dr. Thomas Churilla will provide clinical leadership and oversight for the hospital’s radiation oncology program. These highly respected radiation oncologists, who have long served patients through NROC’s established practice in Dunmore, will now extend their expertise to patients receiving treatment at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
“This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring patients have access to experienced specialists and advanced cancer treatment services close to home,” said Michael B. Clark, President, Commonwealth Health. “By working with NROC, we are strengthening our ability to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals and families facing a cancer diagnosis.”
The partnership is expected to benefit residents throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania by expanding access to trusted radiation oncology specialists while maintaining convenient local care. Patients and providers should continue to use 570-552-1300 for all radiation oncology referrals and scheduling at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Commonwealth Health and NROC look forward to working together to continue delivering exceptional cancer care and improving health outcomes for the communities they serve.
