Commonwealth Health Expands Advanced Diagnostic Services with New CT Scanner and Ultrasound System

Wilkes-Barre General Hospital announces the installation of a new state-of-the-art CT scanner and advanced ultrasound system at the Imaging Center, located in the Thomas P. Saxton Medical Pavilion (TPS), 468 Northampton St. in Kingston. The new equipment enhances Commonwealth’s diagnostic imaging capabilities, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare close to home.

The CT scanner offers advanced imaging capabilities, including cardiac CT studies, faster scan times, and exceptional image quality that can help identify disease earlier and support more precise treatment planning. The new ultrasound system provides improved image resolution and efficiency for a variety of applications, including vascular imaging, women's health, abdominal studies, and diagnostics.

"These investments represent an important step forward for our hospital and our community," said Michael Clark, CEO of Commonwealth Health. “"The addition of both a new CT scanner and ultrasound system reflects our commitment to providing patients with access to advanced technology, exceptional care, and the highest standards of diagnostic excellence. Just as importantly, these projects signal the continued growth and evolution of our organization as we invest in the future of healthcare in our region."

Patients will benefit from shorter exam times, improved diagnostic precision, greater comfort during procedures and access to advanced imaging services without the need to travel to larger metropolitan centers.

The installation of the new imaging equipment is part of a broader strategy to expand clinical services, modernize infrastructure and enhance access to advanced healthcare technologies throughout Commonwealth Health.

"Healthcare is constantly evolving, and we are committed to evolving with it," added Clark. "These new imaging systems are more than equipment upgrades — they are investments in our patients, our caregivers and the future of our hospital. They reflect our confidence in what lies ahead and our determination to continue raising the standard of care."
