First Hospital Presents Professional Series

KINGSTON, Pa. (Feb. 23, 2015) – Commonwealth Health First Hospital will present “Addiction 101: Assessing Drug Abuse and Social Consequences” from 6 to 8 p.m. March 24 at the Thomas P. Saxton Medical Pavilion, 468 Northampton St., Edwardsville. Light refreshments will be served.
The free program, the first in the hospital’s latest Professional Education Series, will be presented by Lisa Costaris, D.O., medical director of CHOICES, and Ashely Wirbicki, director of CHOICES Recovery Program.
The session will focus on understanding recent trends of substance abuse and is designed to help educate clinicians, parents, schools and health care professionals on treatment options for individuals working to overcome addiction. Participants will discuss how substance abuse affects individuals, families and communities. Drug-free treatments and community-based and medication-assisted treatments will be explored.

- “Drug Trends,” April 30, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Lehigh Valley Government Center, 17 S. Seventh St., Allentown, presented by Janene M. Holter, senior supervisory special agent, Office of Pennsylvania Attorney General;
- “Documentation: What Health Care Professionals Need to Know – Quality, Safety & Ethical Guidelines,” May 14, 6-8 p.m., Thomas P. Saxton Pavilion, Edwardsville, presented by Karen Cooper, R.N.
