First Hospital Unveils New Adult Unit

KINGSTON, Pa. (July 7, 2016) – Commonwealth Health First Hospital today unveiled its latest expansion, a 22-bed unit that increases its behavioral health inpatient capacity to 150 beds.

The 12,000-square-foot expansion of the adult psychiatric program features 10 semi-private patient rooms; two private rooms; therapist and group therapy rooms, and a multi-purpose room that doubles as a gym.

The hospital at 562 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, is northeastern Pennsylvania’s only freestanding, private psychiatric hospital and is the region’s leading provider of inpatient psychiatric treatment for children, adolescents and adults. It serves as the core of an integrated behavioral health delivery system that includes CHOICES and Community Counseling Services.

Direct patient care will be provided by psychiatrists and physicians on the medical staff; registered nurses, mental health technicians and allied therapists who work within the nursing department;

therapists and patient care coordinators who work within the social service department; and psychologists and psychometrists in the psychology department.
