Heart & Vascular Institute Sets 2 Free Public Presentations
4/24/2017
SCRANTON, Pa. (April 25, 2017) – The Heart & Vascular Institute at Commonwealth Health Regional Hospital of Scranton will continue its free lecture series in May and June.
Vascular surgeon John Kutz, M.D., will present “Vascular Disease: The Basics of What I Need to Know” at 6 p.m. May 9.
Cardiologist Lear von Koch, M.D., will present “Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting” at 6 p.m. June 13.
Both presentations are open to the public free of charge and will be held at the McGowan Conference Center in the General Services Building at Regional Hospital, 743 Jefferson Avenue.
Dr. Kutz will discuss vascular disease, one of the leading causes of death and disability in the United States. Peripheral vascular disease is a nearly pandemic condition that has the potential to cause loss of limb or even loss of life and may involve disease in any of the blood vessels outside of the heart including the arteries, veins, or lymphatic vessels.
Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, or CABG, is a surgical procedure that improves blood flow to the heart. Surgeons use CABG to treat people who have severe coronary heart disease, a condition in which plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries.
Refreshments will be served and free parking will be offered in the adjacent parkade.
To register for either or both sessions, call 570-770-3024 or email Lauren_Sylvester@chs.net
