Moses Taylor to Unveil New Pediatric Wing

SCRANTON, Pa. (Feb. 6, 2015) – Commonwealth Health Moses Taylor Hospital will host an open house and ribbon cutting for its new pediatric wing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 12 at 700 Quincy Ave., Scranton.
The new 18-bed unit, the first of its kind in the area, features a Ronald McDonald House lounge and play room and is staffed round-the-clock by board-certified pediatric hospitalists from Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. The partnership between Commonwealth Health and Penn State regarding pediatric hospitalist service at Moses Taylor Hospital includes admission, treatment and consultation for hospitalized children – infants through 18 years of age.
The partnership provides an opportunity to bring the advanced care of Penn State Hershey to the children and families of northeastern Pennsylvania, allowing Moses Taylor to provide dedicated inpatient pediatric care close to home.
The opening of the wing coincides with the 25th anniversary of pediatric services at Moses Taylor which began offering the service on Jan. 31, 1990.
Tours will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 11. Invited guests include public officials on the federal, state, county and local levels.
The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
