Tenor Health Foundation Completes Acquisition of Commonwealth Health and Affirms Commitment to Serving the Community
WILKES-BARRE, PA, February 2, 2026
Tenor Health Foundation has completed its acquisition of Commonwealth Health, including Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, and related physician clinic operations, ambulatory surgical centers, and outpatient services. With this transition, the health system returns to nonprofit ownership, reinforcing a mission-driven commitment to community-based care.
Patients can be reassured that there will be no interruption in care and quality and compassionate care will be our focus. All hospitals, clinics, and services will remain open and fully operational, and employees, physicians, and providers will remain in place, ensuring continuity of care with the teams patients know and trust.
Tenor Health Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to stabilizing and strengthening financially challenged rural and suburban hospitals. Led by Chief Executive Officer Radha Savitala, the foundation focuses on long-term sustainability through efficient operations, service line growth, and reinvestment in patient care. The acquisition of Commonwealth Health represents a significant expansion of Tenor Health Foundation’s mission and follows its recent acquisition of Sharon Regional Medical Center in Sharon, Pennsylvania.
“This allows us to focus squarely on what matters most—our patients and the communities we serve,” said Radha Savitala, CEO of Tenor Health Foundation. “We are grateful for the strong support of the community, including U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan and Pennsylvania State Representative Bridget Kosierowski. As a nonprofit organization, Tenor Health Foundation remains committed to keeping high-quality care locally available and ensuring these hospitals remain strong, accessible, and responsive to community needs. We look forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to improve access to and the quality of healthcare.”
Physicians emphasized that patient care remains the top priority.
“Our patients should feel confident that nothing about their care changes,” said Patrick D. Conaboy, MD, VP of Clinical Services and Quality for Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital, and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. “We are here, we are open, and we remain fully focused on providing safe, compassionate, high-quality care to the communities we serve.”
Tenor Health Foundation looks forward to working closely with hospital teams, physicians, and community partners to support stability, growth, and continued access to essential healthcare services across the region.
“Our hospitals and clinics have a long-standing history of caring for this region, and that mission will continue as part of Tenor Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on strengthening community hospitals and keeping care local,” said Michael Clark, President for Commonwealth Health and CEO of Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital, and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. “Tenor Health Foundation’s leadership team brings deep experience in healthcare operations and hospital turnaround, and we look forward to continuing to work collaboratively to ensure long-term stability while continuing to meet the healthcare needs of our community.
