9/13/2015
SCRANTON, Pa. (Sept. 14, 2015) – Representatives of The Joint Commission will visit Scranton Sept. 24 to present Commonwealth Health Moses Taylor Hospital with a plaque commemorating its historic designation as the first hospital in the United States to earn The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval ® for Perinatal Care.
The program will be held at 1 p.m. at the hospital’s 2 West Conference Center, 700 Quincy Avenue.
Perinatal care refers to the care of mother and child before, during and shortly after birth.
The awarding of this certification follows a thorough evaluation of the hospital’s Perinatal Care Program by The Joint Commission to determine if the facility meets the rigorous performance standards in delivering quality, safe care.
Public officials are expected to join Commonwealth Health officials for the program.
