Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Recognized for Excellence in Patient Safety
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital has been recognized among hospitals with the lowest catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) rates in the nation, according to a recent report highlighted by Becker’s Hospital Review and based on data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The report identifies U.S. hospitals that achieved a CAUTI rate of zero, reflecting exceptional performance in preventing one of the most common healthcare-associated infections. These measures are developed by the CDC and tracked through the National Healthcare Safety Network to monitor how often patients experience infections during care.
A catheter-associated urinary tract infection occurs when germs enter the urinary tract through a catheter, and preventing these infections is a key focus in ensuring patient safety and high-quality care.
“This recognition reflects our team’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care for every patient,” said Michael B. Clark, CEO. “Our clinicians and staff work diligently every day to follow best practices and protect our patients from preventable infections.”
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital continues to prioritize patient safety, infection prevention, and continuous improvement to provide the highest level of care to the communities it serves.
