Multi Arterial Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

When heart disease becomes more complex, specialized surgical care can make all the difference. At Commonwealth Health, we offer a broad range of cardiothoracic surgeries, including multi-arterial coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for coronary artery disease.

Multi-arterial coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a type of surgery that takes arteries from other parts of your body, called grafts, and uses them to reroute the blood around clogged arteries to supply blood flow to your heart muscle. By using multiple arteries, rather than just veins or a single artery, this procedure helps improve long-term blood flow to the heart muscle. This surgery may be recommended if medications, lifestyle changes and other non-invasive approaches may not be enough to treat certain cardiovascular conditions.

Reasons for the procedure:

  • One of the most common and effective procedures to manage blockage of blood to the heart muscle
  • Can improve the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart
  • Can relieve chest pain (angina)
  • Can reduce risk of heart attack
  • Can improve ability for physical activity that has been limited by angina or ischemia

If you or a family member has been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, talk to your doctor about whether multi-arterial coronary artery bypass surgery may be the right option.
