Cardiac Calcium Scoring
Commonwealth Health offers cardiac calcium scoring. This test is a non-invasive CT scan of the heart to calculate your risk of developing coronary artery disease (CAD). A cardiac calcium scoring test could identify heart disease if you aren’t presenting traditional symptoms and help save your life.
Who should consider a Cardiac Calcium Scoring CT?
If you are age 40 or older and have one or more of the following risk factors for heart disease:
- Family history
- Limited physical activity
- High cholesterol
- Stress
- High blood pressure
- Diabetic
- Tobacco use
- Overweight
Patients are encouraged to discuss the benefits of cardiac calcium scoring with their physician. A physician’s order is required to schedule the test.
